Thank you for making it until here!
My name is Alicia and I am a German-Ukrainian fashion designer and yoga & pilates instructor based between Morocco and Spain.
I have always been passionate about textiles and arts. I eventually pursued fashion school and had my bits of experiences in the Netherlands, Uk and Spain.
I have stepped aside for 3 years full of adventures and yoga in Morocco, until I came to realise that I have this strong urge again to create, manipulate textiles, sew, draw and get my hands dirty with new visions and ideas.
I have been supressing the urge to make, for the sake of not finding the way, the company or the solution yet. I want to be sustainable, and that made me stop alltogether, because perhaps that is still the most sustainable but also pesimistic way to see it.
I truly just want to create, have fun, entangle in beauty and aesthetics, in new materials and innovations, in rethinking crafts and techniques, in allowing myself to paint my dreams into existence, hence my delusional self trying to find a setting, place or context to just be able to do what I love doing. Creating and experimenting, what is in our nature, and shouldn't be held back from us.
But how can I proceed with this without feeling that I am participating in a "problem", but instead in a solution in this Fashion Industry. Too many clothes, too much fast fashion, poor quality, too many synthetics, plastics and microplastics being shed. The environment being polluted from chemical fabric dyes to piles of clothes that nobody finds no more use to. I don't want to contribute to this.
I am insecure about coming across like an adult DIY project. But what I know is that I want to do it according to my way, no fashion calendar. Sourcing is still a question, ideally dead-stock, or even repurposed 2nd hand, or innovative biodegradable fabrics, or high quality fabric that you love and that will last. That sounds all like great concepts for a brand. But more belongs to it, like the creative vision, the performance of the garment, etc.
So step by step, I will try to pursue this experimentation face to the public, even ideally interactively to built pieces that matter.
I am happy and excited to try, to enjoy a process of creation of bringing that spark back of a passionate obsession, a way of being, of building.
